Forever Tigers is proud to announce the inauguration of the Corbett Foundation / Forever Tigers Scholarship Program.

This announcement coincides with the tenth anniversary of the Corbett Foundation, and it is our hope that it will be the start of a long and productive relationship. For ten years the Corbett Foundation has been a pioneer, in India and indeed the world, in pursuing conservation through education and enrichment programs for the local populations who surround the National Parks. Forever Tigers is honored to be working with such an innovative and inspirational organization.

The program itself comprises three sets of scholarships:

  • First, a scholarship to be awarded to a student in a veterinary college; this scholarship will provide for the student's entire course of studies and living expenses, with the understanding that he or she will pursue a specialization in wildlife medicine and rehabilitation.

  • Second, a scholarship, based on both merit and need to be awarded to a child of a Forest Officer from Corbett Tiger Reserve.

  • Third, a scholarship awarded to the winners on the Corbett Foundation's annual wildlife competitions.

A recipient for the first veterinary scholarship has already been found. His scholarship was awarded in person at the tenth anniversary celebration of the Corbett Foundation in April 2004.

Our scholarship recipient has been involved, as a volunteer, with the Forest Department at Corbett Tiger Reserve for nine years. He has been involve in the rescues of numerous animals, including pythons and sloth bears, and has even been awarded the title of Honorary Wildlife Warden.

After completing his veterinary studies, he plans to obtain a Masters degree in wildlife management and hopes to one day open a wildlife rehabilitation clinic at Corbett.

Truly, he has set the bar very high.

The recipients of the two remaining categories will be determined over the course of the next year.
