It is estimated that fewer than 5,000 tigers may now remain in the wild. These remaining tigers are threatened by many factors, including growing human populations, loss of habitat, illegal hunting of the tiger and the species they hunt, and expanded trade in tiger parts for traditional medicines. Mission Statement Forever Tigers Inc., a 501(c)(3) not for profit corporation, is dedicated to educating the public about the plight of tigers in the wild and about efforts to protect them both in situ, and through captive breeding programs. We place a special emphasis on outreach -- in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner -- to the Asian community in the U.S. and around the world, and in particular to practitioners of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and Asian folk medicine, as the use of tiger parts and tiger derived medicines is the primary impetus for poaching, and the most significant factor in the tiger's demise. It is our hope that by informing the public about the extreme urgency of the crises afflicting every tiger subspecies, in every remaining habitat, and by offering information about alternatives to tiger derived medicines, (both within TCM itself and in Western medicine) we can help avert what now seems almost unavoidable and save the wild tiger.
